Check valves - their sealing applications
Various sealing materials are used in check valves, including EPDM, NBR, Viton and PTFE, depending on the specific requirements of the application:
EPDM (ethylene propylene diene rubber): EPDM seals are known for their good resistance to water, steam, ozone and UV radiation. They are well suited for applications where good weather and water resistance are required, such as in water supply and HVAC systems.
NBR (nitrile butadiene rubber): NBR gaskets are characterised by excellent resistance to oils, fuels and many chemicals. They are ideal for applications in the oil and gas industry as well as in automotive and aviation technology, where media containing oil must be sealed.
Viton FPM/FKM: Viton seals offer excellent resistance to high temperatures, chemicals and solvents, including aggressive chemicals such as acids and alkalis. They are often used in chemical processes, in the petrochemical industry and in food processing.
PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene): PTFE gaskets have exceptional chemical resistance to almost all media and are resistant to high temperatures. They are used in critical applications where excellent sealing performance and chemical resistance are required, such as in the chemical, pharmaceutical and food processing industries.
Each of these sealing materials offers specific properties that can be selected according to the requirements of the application to ensure effective sealing and long-term reliability in check valves.
