3/2-way and 5/2-way Namur solenoid valves for pneumatic systems

3/2-way Namur solenoid valves

The 3/2-way Namur valve consists of three connections (inlet, outlet and exhaust) and two switching positions. It is used to control the air flow either to pressurise or to vent a single-acting cylinder or actuator. When the valve is switched on, the inlet for the air supply to the system is opened. Conversely, when the valve is switched off, the inlet is closed and the vent is opened so that the air can escape from the actuator, which would then extend using the spring force. They are used in applications that require simple on-off control, e.g. for clamping, lifting or positioning tasks in packaging machines or on assembly lines.

5/2-way Namur solenoid valves

A 5/2-way namur valve has five ports (inlet, two outlets, two vents) and two positions. This type of control valve is recognised by pneumatic users for its dynamic capabilities and its ability to change the sources of air flow in double-acting cylinders by pressurising and exhausting. The valve directs air to one outlet while exhausting the other side when energised. The reversal of the signal also reverses the direction of the air flow to the other outlet. This bi-directional control is particularly beneficial when operating robotic arms, material handling systems and processes that require repetitive motion in both directions.
