
What makes a proper PTFE butterfly valve?
Unlike simple valve seals, a complete PTFE layer - at least 3 mm thick - ensures that the components that come into contact with the medium are reliably covered or encased. The advantage?
- Complete protection: Not only the seat ring, but also the disc and the inner walls of the housing are protected against corrosion and abrasion.
- Smooth and insensitive: the PTFE surface allows almost nothing to stick. Hardly any risk of blockages, the flow remains stable.
- Temperatures? No stress: PTFE can easily withstand temperatures between -25°C and +200°C.
When is there no getting around the PTFE butterfly valve?
Not every medium justifies this effort - water, air or harmless gases often get by with EPDM or NBR seals without any problems. But if you answer "yes" to the following questions, you should take a closer look:
- Are highly aggressive chemicals or strong alkalis/acids to be conveyed?
- Do you process solvents or abrasive media?
- Does the pharmaceutical or food industry require particularly clean or cleaning-intensive processes?

How do you choose the right PTFE butterfly valve?
The best PTFE butterfly valve depends directly on your situation. You should pay particular attention to these points:
- Nominal diameter (DN): We offer butterfly valves from DN 50 to DN 300, i.e. virtually any pipe dimension.
- Pressure range (PN): Our models can withstand pressures up to PN16. Many are also certified for ANSI 150 lbs.
