Check Valves - Non Return Valves

A check valve, or one-way valve, is a valve that normally allows fluid (liquid or gas) to flow in only one direction.

Check valves are two-way valves, meaning they have two openings in the body, one for the fluid to enter and one for the fluid to exit. There are several types of check valves used in a variety of applications. There are various check valve seals such as NBR, EPDM, FPM-VITON, and PTFE. These seals can be selected depending on the application such as temperature, media, and others.

An important concept in check valves is cracking pressure, which is the minimum differential pressure between inlet and outlet at which the valve operates. Typically, the check valve is designed for a specific cracking pressure and can therefore be specified for that pressure.
