A pipe compensator – also known as an expansion joint, flexible joint, or rubber expansion joint – is a flexible pipeline element installed between two fixed pipe sections to absorb axial, lateral, and angular movements caused by thermal expansion and contraction. At the same time, a rubber expansion joint acoustically decouples pumps and machines from the pipe network, preventing the transmission of vibrations and structure-borne noise into the building structure.
