Flanged Ball Valve
A flanged ball valve is a quarter-turn shut-off valve with integral flanges that bolt to mating pipeline flanges via studs, nuts and a flange gasket. Inside, a perforated sphere rotates 90° between open and closed. In the open position the bore aligns with the pipe for full flow; a quarter turn closes the valve completely. Compared to a threaded ball valve, the flanged connection handles higher pressures, larger nominal sizes and is easier to maintain in-line — the valve lifts out of the flange joint without disturbing the pipework.
F14 (EN 558-1 Series 14) is the standard face-to-face length for flanged ball valves and the default choice for new installations. F1 (EN 558-1 Series 1) matches the face-to-face of DIN gate valves and butterfly valves — it is used for a 1:1 replacement of an existing gate valve or butterfly valve without modifying the pipework. For installations with extremely limited space, the compact flanged ball valve KH156 offers an ultra-short alternative.
Stainless steel 1.4408 suits corrosive, hygienic or high-temperature media (chemical, pharmaceutical, food). Carbon steel 1.0460 is the more economical option for neutral media at high pressures (power plants, district heating, steam condensate). Ductile iron GGG40 is the standard for water, gas and building services — with the option of DVGW certification (KH121). For chloride-bearing media or seawater, duplex stainless steel 1.4470 is recommended.
Yes — the KH121 series in ductile iron GGG40 carries DVGW Gas certification to DIN EN 13774. DVGW Drinking Water approved flanged ball valves are also available. All certificates can be downloaded from the FERGO certificate portal.
Yes. Every flanged ball valve in the FERGO range is available with a pneumatic actuator (double-acting or single-acting spring return) or an electric J4C rotary actuator (24–240V AC/DC). FERGO handles actuator sizing, assembly and pressure testing in-house. All accessories — NAMUR solenoid valve, limit switch box, inductive sensor, mounting bracket — are pre-assembled before dispatch.
